"Sealed" isn't quite what it's supposed to be. Some years ago I bought a factory-sealed (apparently) disk drive at Fry's. When I hooked it up, I found the drive had software and course-work of some local college graduate student. The upside was that Photoshop was on the drive, which I hadn't used before. I tried it, liked it, and bought the current version for myself.

The downside was that the drive failed sooner than most. I suspect that the drive had been returned for a replacement, the techs had superficially tested the drive and found no malfunction, so rewrapped it as new -- just as one (at least) big local record store used to rewrap returned vinyl records as factory-sealed.
